SuperSimpleSongs: Lesson Idea's

We've done a few video's on here before for using songs in the classroom;

*Go away Big Green Monster*

*Hello Hello Hello*

And here is another :)

5 Little Monkeys (click here for the youtube video)  and here is a power-point presentation *click here* that I used to teach some of the basic expressions in the song and a mini quizz at the end (It's designed for Korean first grade kids, but is really easy to adapt)

Farmboy's Summer Camp!

Being with EPIK, each and every Native English teacher will have to make/design/participate/teach a camp (of 40 hours) in both the Summer and the Winter Vacation.

What you do is up to you, most schools go the boring old fashioned route and follow the camp plans of old, using the same games and activities "Let's cook", "seasons", "animals" etc.

Here is what went down @Farmboy's school:

Africa may have invented the Dance…

Earlier this year, a South Africa Braai was held in Seoul for all of us Saffa's here in South Korea. Lots of good beer, and even better meat was had, and then one of our friends had some very interesting things to say about dance :)

Classroom Games ~ *Touch and Go*

This game is a great way to practice vocabulary/target sentences. I'm sure most teachers have done this game at least once, but here is a video for those who haven't. I have called it the "Touch n Go" game. The kids love it, and depeneding on how much time you have/need, it can take up to 20 minutes :)

My cozy little apartment

The title says it all...and the video does the rest!

I stay in an area called Wonnaedong, which is the west most part of Daejeon, and is slowly on the up, which means apartments and other construction going up every where i look! So the noise is awful, but one gets used to it amoungst the other things (like my neighbour down the passage with his HUGE bulldog~which he keeps in his apartment!)...but life goes on :)

I have what is called a "studio" apartment, which means that I have essentially 2 rooms, one 'living room' and then another 'room' which houses my kitchen...and of course my bathroom, or 'washroom' as they call it here. All very compact, but very comfy!

(the pink colour co-ordination was entirely accidental :) )

K~Pop!

K~Pop, (or Korean Pop) is the name given to the ultra cheesy pop music here in Korea...with broken English and even the occasioanl Konglish word, it can sometimes be a bit confusing... but its easy to listen to and most of all, its fun!

Thought I would post a few music videos, so here they are!

Let me know what you think :)

Today is a special day....

So today is Citygirls Bday! It started with me cycling across town at 5:10am with the following in hand....

8x inflated multi coloured balloons
1x chocolate pancake mixture
2x two pretty little bags heaving with prezzies
4x hours of sleep

Oh I lost one of the balloons in the Lotte Mart parking lot on a tree. In no time at all I burst through the doors singing an off the cuff birthday monet (duet for one person) involving birhtday wishes, happyness for the future and a home overrun with offspring. She drowsly pushed away the laptop showing the latest Gossip Girl episode and said, I quote..." Yussis what took you so long..." Ok Im lying. She uncurled like a winter hamster and had a huge smile on her face! Was really nice to see my girl so happy! I then presented her with various gifts and other little things that oozed love and thoughfulness. After some tears and lots of kisses and paper cuts from ripping through the wrapping Citygirl sent me to the kitchen to make coffee and pancakes, while she read through letters from all her friends and admired her new ear frosting :)

Was a great morning all in all and the rest of the day should be grand! Here is a little clip I threw together in honor of my angel...

Diski Dance!

After watching this short clip my heart swelled with pride for South Africa and all thats happening back home with the up and coming World Cup! I think I speak for all of us Saffa's abroad when I say that I'm really sorry I'm missing this benchmark in SA's history. But alas :) Here is the clip so all of you can enjoy it wherever you are...maybe even incorporate it into one of your classes?!
