5 Little Monkeys (click here for the youtube video)  and here is a power-point presentation *click here* that I used to teach some of the basic expressions in the song and a mini quizz at the end (It's designed for Korean first grade kids, but is really easy to adapt)

*Harry Potter Camp*: Last day!

The last day of camp has finally come and gone...yippee! What an awesome bunch of kids who put in so much effort every day! I loved teaching them, but I'm loving the fact that its over even more :)

Today we did some origami and made owls and we did a market play thingy and an overall camp quizz....ending off with awarding the kids with Harry Potter certificates...another camp done and dusted :) yay!

*Harry Potter* Winter Camp: Day 4

And day 4 is done! Today we learnt about "textures" of foods, centaurs and made wands...cool hey :)

And finally, the last few minutes were used to make their "Owl Post" postcards, where the students write to Harry Potter telling them what they liked most about the day

Tomorrow is our last day...yippee! Then I will be posting all the lesson plans and power-points presentations and worksheets :)

*Harry Potter* Winter Camp: Day 3

Day 3 came and went without too much stress. The kids left tired and out of breath after a fun filled morning of Harry Potter style olympiic games!

*Harry Potter* Winter Camp: Day 2

And day 2 has come and gone...thank goodness! The kids were a little harder to get motivated today, but I'll blame that on the weather and not me :)

Today we made Potions (and learnt "tastes") and learnt about magical creatures...fun fun fun!

Our *Postions*:

salt water = fish pee

honey = dirt

coke = unicorn blood

black coffee = fish brains

tabasco = spider blood

lemony water = dragon pee

*Harry Potter* Winter Camp: Day 1

Today marked the start of one of my school's Winter Camp. Weeks of planning and preparation led us to today and I'm relieved to say it went really well.

Apart from the fact that only 24 of the 40 Students registered students showed up, it went down without too many hitches. Our theme for the camp (along with just about every other Public School in Daejeon, maybe even in South Korea) is Harry Potter. Thanks so much to waygook.org for the fabulous ideas and basic materials for this super cool theme.

Here are some pictures from the first day. When my camp is finished I will be posting all my materials and lesson plans here on the site under the Life in South Korea menu tab at the top of our site :) So keep checking back for more ideas!

Christmas Lesson: *Snowflakes*

Another last minute lesson before we pack up and head out for the Winter Holidays!

The students particularly enjoyed the scissor cutting :)

*Christmas* Lesson ideas

As the school term slowly draws to an end, I have finally convinced my co-teacher to leave the textbook and do some fun Christmas themes lessons for the last few days. Here is one of my ideas :)

First I brainstormed "Christmas" on the board:

Then I showed them a great Powerpoint presentation about Christmas:

And the above pictures are evidence of what the kids accomplished :) They had to write 5 words about Christmas from those that we brainstormed together, on each of their "fingers" that they made
