{Agra Indian Restaurant} Seoul

If you're looking for some authentic Indian flavours you need to head to Agra in Myeongdong, Seoul. This delightful ghetto styled restaurant currently has an amazing lunch special for W9800. This includes a green salad (don't let is name fool you into thinking its boring and plain), a choice of curry and rice, naan bread and a coffee/lassi to end things off with.

When not eating something off their 'special lunch menu' the meals are pretty pricey and the portions aren't very big. Definitely worth a stop for their lunch special.

There are a few branches of Agra in Seoul (one in Itaweon above the Burger King and another somehwere else). We went to the one in Myeongdong, on the third floor just behind VIPS.

Address:
Myeongdong Bldg. 3F, 52-13 Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Directions:
Walk out of Myeongdong Subway stop, exit 5/6/7/8 and head down the busy road with the giant Uniqlo. Turn left at Dunkin Donuts, then turn left again after 5 minutes at the VIPS. Its a little way up that street on the 3rd floor.

Have you eaten there before? What did you think? Any other recommendations for Indian restaurants in Seoul?

*Myeong-dong* Seoul

So living in/visiting Korea would just not be complete without a trip to the massive shopping district that is Myeong-dong.

Of course you've got to also see Yangsan Electronics market to pick up some cheap technological, Seoul Tower (we are still to go!!) and a host of the other awesome cool markets like Insadong for traditional Korean souvenirs,Namdaemun Dongdaemun as well as Hongdae for a bit of a student vibe and cheap & funky places to eat...but really...if you only can go to one place for your shopping, go to Myeongdong!

Why not make a few days of your explorations of Seoul. Here are some great backpackers to stay at:

Blu Guest House close to Hongdae
Hong Guest House in the Seogyo-dong area
Banana Backpackers in near Insadong and their other location near Namdaemun
Directions

1. From Exit No. 5 of Euljiro Ipgu Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line No. 2), walk 10 minutes.
2. From Exit No. 5, 6, 7, or 8 of Myeong-dong Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line 4), walk 5 minutes

With all the hype for the up and coming G20 Summit here in Seoul, South Korea, I thought Id post this really great video. The makers of the video have entered into a competion and this is their video; promoiting the G20 Summit with their main theme being "The Miracle of the Han River".

"The Miracle of the Han River refers to South Korea's highly accelerated export-fueled economic growth, industrialization, technological achievement, exponential rise in living standards and education, rapid urbanization and modernization. The phrase refers to the economic growth of Seoul, through which the Han River flows" Daily News

Pre~ World Cup Braai in Seoul!

Saturday morning saw us up bright and early to catch the train into Seoul...2 hours later and we were negotiating our way round the Seoul Subway system like pro's...on the hunt for our backpackers.

Now Blu Guesthouse is far from your average backpackers, with a very impressive entrance, a very friendly host, and immaculately clean rooms with your own bathroom and shower for the very affordable rate of W15 000!
After dumping our bags and catching our breath we marched off to join the other 346 South Africans who we would be braaing with at Naanjin Park to celebrate the World Cup!

What a sight awaited us when we arrived....vuvuzella's, green, yellow, flags, Zakumi's, and the cherry on the cake..the smells of borewors, lamb chops and BILTONG!

What a great way to spend a Saturday, surrounded by friends, eating delicious homely food, and listening to the sounds of hundreds of other South Africans having a great partykie :)

Then it was off to Itaewon with Claire to explore 'What the Book!', the only stand alone English Book shop in South Korea, as well as some other interesting sights (which included an eye popping moment outside a transgender club and a delicious Curry as well  as look around at the world food market!)
All in all a top weekend!
~even got home early enough on Sunday to finish off the first season of FlashForward~now what are FarmBoy and I gonna watch??
