Getting your **nails** done in Korea

Today marked a very special day for Citygirl here in Korea. It was "treat" day whereby Roxy and her awesome Texan buddy Christina,  headed off to get their nails done (something they swore to do every 2 weeks but have actually only done  so twice before).

Getting your nails done in Korea is really really cool, with loads of designs and colours to choose from and for only W15 000 a pop (about $15), it's not too bad :) Of course mine ended up being a little more,  owing to the fact that I just had to try the  "gradient" design  and I may have had a nail that needed fixing (they do this here too, super cool) ending up rounding off to W30 000. The cherry on the cake for me? Cashing in my "nail voucher" which Igot from Farmboy for my birthday...what an amazing boyfriend hey *:)*

We go to a great little nail bar at our local HomePlus supermarket, they seem to have them at every Lotte Mart & HomePlus...

Choosing the right colour can be a stressful process you see...

The "gradient" painting process :) *yes, it is a process involving layers and layers and sponges and sponges!*

But in the end...totally worth it!

*Make up* Tips/Reviews/Ideas

 

I am a city girl, born and bred. And so, I have a deep and sometimes twisted obsession with makeup and all things ‘product’ (Im definately not trying to generalise about the fact that ALL city girls like make up…some don’t…but i do…hehe) . I mean I know I have a million lip glosses that all seem to look exactly the same, but I NEED THAT ONE!!

And bearing that in mind, today I have spent the last 6 hours of my free time today looking at make up blogs and sites.

Banila great South Korean make up brand (the site is in Korean Im sorry, but you can browse through it anyways). Banila is stocked in Lotte Departments here in South Korea, as well as having a few of its own stores dotted around Korea. Its my favorite brand here so far 

Those are the 2 that consumed my day  happy browsing! Im off to go and do some shopping!

Magik Aroma *marvelous soaps & heavenly crunchies*

So...a few days ago I placed an order with Mila from Magik Aroma for some soap and crunchies...did the transfer...and the completely forgot about it...That is, until my package arrived.

And what a package it was! Full of tempting smells, I ripped though the tape and newspaper, and could not contain my excitement at the very FULL packet of crunchies that lay within my reach :)

You see, here in South Korea, it's quiet hard to get hold of some of the finer things from back home (South Africa), and this is where Mila comes in...

Her crunchies (hard cookie/biscuit thingy's for those who have no idea what I'm talking about) are amazing *to say the least* and she makes her own scented soaps and candles too! All delivered safe and sound to your doorstep. Just drop Mila a message through facebook :)

*Make Up*

I think my obsession with make up and all things nice smelling started when I was a baby. And since then it has only grown into what, has been described by some as, an ‘unhealthy obsession’. Countless times have I heard the following lines “But what do you need that for!” and “And what does that supposedly do?!”…but it has never stopped me from spending countless hours in shopping malls and at cosmetic counters.

So I thought it was about time I did some posts on the make up and cosmetics here in South Korea..which are *absolutely fantastic*…see for yourself!

Here are just a few of the great shops here:

All of the bigger brands of cosmetics (MAC, Clinique, Dior, Benefit) are sold in the big department stores, but are sooooo expensive here. And with the huge variety of ultra awesome products available at these smaller stores, why would you go anywhere else.
